Last week was the annual meeting of the Mining Finland association, and as part of the meeting, a new board for the association was chosen. The board represents different member categories, which are micro and small companies; large companies; research centers and education, ensuring each interest group has a voice on the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please find below brief introductions of the board members and how they are advancing the work of Mining Finland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Riku
Riku Helander<\/strong>, Chairman of the MF Board, Senior Vice President, Head of Services Business Line, Normet Group <\/strong>Oy.\u00a0Riku is responsible for the services business line at Normet. Normet Services is present in over 30 countries and has over 600 individuals supporting \u00a0Normet customers in underground mining and tunnelling.\u00a0With Mining Finland, Riku sees three main targets: to promote Finnish companies in the global mining market \u2013 showing that member companies are the right partners for sustainable and responsible mining; International co-operation to build a network and open business opportunities for member companies; opportunity for member companies to learn from each other and build co-operation<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"Saija
Saija Luukkanen<\/strong>, Vice Chairwoman of the MF Board, Professor in Mineral Processing and Head of Unit, Oulu Mining School of the University of <\/strong>Oulu.\u00a0<\/strong>Saija has been a<\/span> professor in mineral processing since 2015 and Head of Unit, Oulu Mining School of the University of Oulu since 2018.\u00a0 Before her academic career, Saija worked for industry and research organizations in Finland and abroad (France, Peru). \u00a0Saija\u00b4s main objectives are to promote international student recruitment and student exchange, and strengthen and widen international research collaboration with industry and research organizations.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"Ilpo
Ilpo Viskari<\/strong>, Solution Manager, EPSE <\/strong>Oy.\u00a0<\/strong>Ilpo<\/span> is in charge of the Finnish customers at EPSE. Their patented products specialize in the treatment of industrial hazardous processes and wastewater and mining wastewater containing soluble metals. Their solution enables more effective recycling of metals. Ilpo aims to help Mining Finland with his long experience and support positive development of the mining industry in Finland. \u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"Jukka
Jukka Koponen<\/strong>, CEO, Sleipner Finland <\/strong>Oy.\u00a0<\/strong>At<\/span> Mining Finland, Jukka will help member companies to promote their products and services globally by utilizing all possible channels, help to establish new relationships, and penetrate new markets.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"Lasse
Lasse Moilanen<\/strong>, CEO and shareholder, BioSO4 <\/strong>Oy.\u00a0<\/strong>Lasse<\/span> is the CEO and shareholder at BioSO4 Oy with 18 years of experience in successful domestic and international sales. His strongest fields of expertise are mining and water treatment chemicals. Lasse has also been an active part in building profitable global distributor, sales and logistical networks. BioSO4 Oy from Kempele, Finland, is one of the quickest growing mining reagent distributors in Europe with 1,4 M\u20ac turnover. With Mining Finland, Lasse sees three main targets: To promote Finnish companies to get profitable business in the global mining market; to build cooperation and distributor channels to Finnish members. To help members keep focus on the right size of new markets and the right customers.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Asko K\u00e4pyaho<\/strong>, Head of Unit, Mineral Economy Solutions, Geological Survey of Finland (GTK)<\/strong>. Asko holds a PhD in Geology (2007). His work history and scientific career cover a broad field of geosciences, including mineral exploration, research on bedrock evolution and mineral systems as well as science and innovation management. He also has experience in the energy sector as he has been working in the field of geological disposal of nuclear waste.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
